Our recent trip to Universal's Epic Universe was nothing short of - well - Epic. From immersive worlds to delightful dining experiences, here's a rundown of our top takeaways:
1. A Full Week of Fun
With the addition of Epic Universe as Universal's third theme park, alongside the existing parks and the Volcano Bay water park, Universal Orlando has solidified itself as a week-long vacation destination. There's so much to explore and enjoy!
2. Theming That Rivals the Best
Universal is stepping up its game in thematic design. While some set pieces may not be as grandiose, the attention to detail and immersive environments are impressive, giving Disney a run for its money.
3. Dining as an Experience
Food at Epic Universe isn't just about sustenance; it's part of the adventure. Each dining venue is thoughtfully themed to its respective world, offering unique and delicious options that enhance the overall experience. In most restaurants, you must order ahead from the Universal App or scan a QR code and order from your phone when you arrive. You place the order on the App and then report on the app that you have arrived. They will start preparing your food at that point. Payment and Ordering are all done through the mobile app.
4. Hydration Made Easy
Staying hydrated is a breeze with the ability to bring your own water container and refill it at the Freestyle Coke machines throughout the park. The water at the Free Style machines is always cool. Additionally, complimentary cups of water are available at various stations, making it both convenient and cost-effective.
5. Innovative Locker Systems
The new face ID lockers are a game-changer. Gone are the days of fumbling with tickets; these lockers are user-friendly and efficient, enhancing the overall park experience.
6. Nighttime Beauty
Epic Universe transforms at night. The thoughtful lighting design creates a mesmerizing atmosphere, making evening strolls through the park a visual delight.
7. The Enchanting Fountain
A central water fountain adds to the park's ambiance, serving as a picturesque focal point that's both calming and captivating.
8. Spacious Walkways
The park's design includes large, open walkways, particularly in the central areas, which helps manage crowds and reduces the feeling of being overwhelmed.
9. Navigating Nintendo World
Super Nintendo World is a visual treat, authentically capturing the essence of the original video games. However, the abundance of stairs may pose challenges for some visitors. While elevators are available, they might become crowded during peak times.
10. Planning is Key
Given the park's newness, some rides and shows may experience delays or temporary closures. It's essential to have a flexible plan to make the most of your visit.
11. Friendly Faces Everywhere
The staff at Epic Universe are exceptionally welcoming and helpful, contributing to a positive and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the park.
12. Character Encounters
From spontaneous character appearances to scheduled meet-and-greets, these interactions add an extra layer of magic to the experience.
13. Staying at Cabana Bay Beach Resort
We chose to stay at Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort, and it exceeded our expectations. While the exterior may appear modest, the interior offers comfortable accommodations and a range of amenities.
Comfortable Rooms: The rooms are well-appointed, and the beds are cozy, ensuring a restful night's sleep.
Dining Options: The resort features a variety of dining venues, including a restaurant, a Starbucks coffee shop, and an ice cream shake/malt dessert place, catering to diverse tastes.
Extended Pool Hours: For those looking to unwind after a day at the parks, the pools remain open late, providing a relaxing end to the day.
